Allianz is a purpose led business, since 1890, all around the globe we have been aiming to enrich people’s lives through innovations and make a positive impact on society through a wide range of products, services and solutions that give courage to our customers for what’s ahead as well as contribute to a more sustainable planet.

As we aim to be the trusted partner of our stakeholders, the importance of delivering solutions that positively contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is very clear. Over the years, we have actively integrated SDGs into our work and partnerships, utilizing our resources to address issues such as nutrition, hygiene and climate change. We are also increasingly recognizing the need to integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into all aspects of assessing and managing risk and opportunity.

This commitment extends to Sri Lanka as well where being a responsible and sustainable company is at the foundation of our business. We have made great strides in reducing our own carbon footprint, helping our customers adopt more sustainable behaviours, supporting employee wellbeing and helping communities become more resilient.

Our initiatives in Sri Lanka are primarily based around securing a more sustainable and safer future for every child. The recent global and local conditions have exacerbated threats to the most vulnerable groups in our society and created new risks to their lives and futures. Therefore, at Allianz Sri Lanka we have an unrelenting desire to make ourselves useful and bring smiles to our future generations.

We are also working to equip our own people for the future. As the way we all work is constantly changing, we are making efforts to create an inclusive environment where every person at Allianz is encouraged and supported to reach their full potential. It is critical for our future to build an organization that is deeply valued by its people. Giving wings to the dreams of our future generation

Every child is unique. Every child has tremendous potential that can be achieved with some support. So, what would the dreams of our future generation be, if they could connect with their peers from different backgrounds and truly experience a much bigger world that is not limited by the classroom they are in?

Our aim at Allianz Lanka is to provide our future generations with this platform as we support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of Zero Hunger and Quality Education.

Supporting the students of St. John Del Rey Tamil Vidyalam

In the lush emerald-green Central Highlands of Sri Lanka lies the Bogawanthalawa Valley, considered to be one of the most beautiful tea growing areas in the country. Amidst all this beauty is the St. John Del Rey Tamil Vidyalam with 543 school children from Grade 1-11 studying hard to make their dreams a reality.

Allianz Lanka Donates and Installs Clean Drinking Water System for Rural School in Dolosbage

Driven by its sustainability agenda, Allianz Lanka, one of Sri Lanka’s leading insurers, recently completed the donation and installation of a clean drinking water system at the CP/GMP/Kelly Group Primary School on the Kelly Group Estate in Dolosbage. Students of this school, who are mostly children of daily wage earners working at the local tea factory, are continuing their education with minimum facilities. Most have to walk about 5km each day to attend school and face further difficulties as there is no clean drinking water at the school, while parents are unable to do anything about this situation due to their own financial difficulties.

Allianz Lanka Promotes Safety of Children on the Road with Donation of Child Safety Helmets

Allianz Lanka believes that Sri Lanka’s children, the future of the nation, deserve to grow up in a safe environment, protected from life’s challenges and adversities, so they may pursue their dreams with confidence. That is why providing necessary support to ensure a sustainable future for Sri Lanka’s children is one of the main focus areas for Allianz Lanka. In this endeavor, Allianz Lanka has noticed growing numbers of children travelling by motorcycle without proper protection in Colombo and other areas. Having conducted further research on this, it was discovered that the number of children travelling on motorcycles as pillion riders without safety helmets or adequate protection is far higher in rural areas. Travelling without a helmet is not just a serious offence, it can result in fatal injuries in case of an accident.

Allianz Lanka Donates Essential Food Packs to Karanagama Primary School in Dombagahawela

One of Sri Lanka’s premier insurance houses, Allianz Lanka, a member of the global Allianz SE Group, recently made a special donation of essential food packs to rural schoolchildren. The donation was made to the Karanagama Primary School in Dombagahawela, a rural village in the Monaragala District. The school serves 75 children from Grades 1 to 5, most of whom are from underprivileged backgrounds. The initiative was inspired after Allianz Lanka became aware of the difficulties schoolchildren there were facing amidst the present economic crisis, including a lack of adequate access to essential food items. The donation items were handed over to the schoolchildren in the presence of school representatives, amidst a modest ceremony.

Allianz Lanka Ranked No.2 Globally at Allianz World Run 2022

Allianz World Run, a global annual event held across the Allianz Group SE worldwide, recently concluded with Allianz Lanka ranking No.2 in the global leader-boards for the event. The objective of the Allianz World Run is to promote health and fitness by gamifying physical activity, with the intention of raising awareness and funds for pivotal issues facing people across the world. Participants, which included Allianz’s people all over the world, use their mobile phones and devices to track their physical activity for 90 days. Their progress and efforts are then tallied, for each contributing country, and then each country is ranked on a global leader board. The primary objective of the event is to run a combined total distance of as many times as possible around the globe in 90 days.

Allianz Lanka Successfully Completes Its First Sustainable Initiative for 2022

Allianz Lanka successfully completed its first major sustainable initiative for 2022 in the Mahiyanganaya area, staying true to the Company’s global and local vision of helping to create and foster sustainable economies and societies. The project in question involved the installation and commissioning of a photovoltaic solar power generation array at the B/MA/Senanigama Primary School, Mahiyanganaya. Close to 72 students and teachers will benefit from this initiative as the school is now able to obtain its daily energy requirements from a renewable energy source, while also contributing the excess power generated to the national grid.

Allianz Lanka takes a sustainable step forward with the launch of ‘Thuru Mithuru’

Aligning with their global efforts towards more sustainable and eco-friendly operations, Allianz Lanka recently joined the efforts of the Allianz Group in reducing their carbon footprint, rolling out several initiatives to make a positive impact to our environment. A significant milestone in this journey was the recent launch of ‘Thuru Mithuru’, an initiative that aims to support the group wide commitment to cut Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions per employee by 30% by 2025 through a company-wide tree planting project.

Allianz Lanka Unveils its first Sustainable Initiative for 2021

Hettiarachchigama is a rural agricultural village, with a humble and hospitable community located in North Western Province, about 80Km away from Kurunegala. Having visited several schools in the area, the Allianz team picked NW / Maho / Giribawa Hettiearachchigam Primary School in Warawewa as the school with the greatest need for this solar installation. The school now has a solar panel with a capacity of 3kWh (a 7 solar panel unit) which provides its complete electricity requirements. Close to 50 children from farmer families between the grades of 1-5 and five teachers will benefit from this initiative. This is in line with Allianz’s global focus on Climate Change and Decarbonization.

Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd donates No Parking boards to Bandarawela Police

Sri Lanka Police plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the public. Bandarawela is a densely populated town that attracts large numbers of local and foreign visitors. The efforts made by Bandarawela Police to ensure the safety of the local community as well as all these visitors with limited resources are highly commendable. As a brand that continuously strives to support all Sri Lankans have confidence in tomorrow, we felt it would be a great opportunity to appreciate their efforts and help the Bandarawela Police carry out their operations with ease. In line with this, we donated 10 nos of “No Parking” boards to the Bandarawela Police on 15^th March 2021 in the presence of Mr. Mangala Bandara (Chief Marketing Officer), Mr. Samantha Gunawardena (AGM-Market Management) and several other team members. HQI, Mr. Chandana Jayathilaka and several Traffic Police Officers attached to the Bandarawela Police were also present at this occasion.

Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd donates police post to Dematagoda Police

Our frontline workers, tirelessly and bravely continue to do their jobs whilst sacrificing their personal well-being. The Dematagoda Police plays a significant role in ensuring public safety. As a brand that deeply cares for our community we wanted to recognize their efforts and support them to carry out their duties with ease. In line with this, we donated a police post to the Dematagoda Police in the presence of Mangala Bandara (Chief Marketing Officer), Samantha Gunawardena (AGM-Market Management), Rienzie De Silva and several other team members. Traffic sergeant, Mr. N R Gunawardena was also present at this occasion. This initiative is one of many planned for this year to support the local community we operate in.

Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd donates essential items to Public Health Department, Colombo Municipal Council

In our efforts to strengthen the nation’s resilience to pandemics and other public health emergencies, Allianz donated two nos. 10ftx15ft Foldable Tents, three tables and four chairs to Public Health Department, CMC recently. These items are mainly used for PCR testing, dengue testing and for school health programmes carried out by MOH unit. These items were officially handed over on 26^th January in the presence of Mangala Bandara (CMO, Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd), Samantha Gunawardena (AGM - Market Management), along with our team members, Nirmala Ranjan and Rienzie De Silva. Dr. Pathum C. Kodikara, Medical Officer of Health and several PHI staff members were also present at this occasion. This is in line with our commitment to help secure people’s lives and to give courage to our customers for what’s ahead.

Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd. Supports District General Hospital - Negombo

Allianz Insurance Lanka Limited (Allianz Lanka), one of Sri Lanka’s leading insurance providers, extended its support to the District General Hospital – Negombo with a donation of air conditioning equipment to the hospital’s Blood Bank. The District General Hospital – Negombo is one of the key health care facilities in the Negombo region, serving as the primary healthcare centre for patients in Negombo and the neighbouring suburbs. It also caters to the Bandaranayake International Airport and the Katunayake Free Trade Zone.

The air conditioning units have been installed in the hospital’s Blood Bank which serves over 300 patients and 200 blood donors every week. Air conditioning is essential to helping blood banks maintain the quality of their service. Strengthening the capacity of the Blood Bank, the equipment is set to help the facility deliver greater levels of care and support to its patients and donors.

SOS Project

Following the global partnership between Allianz and SOS Children’s Villages, Allianz Lanka joined hands with SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka to empower youth with essential IT skills. This is part of SOS’s global ‘Youth Can!’ programme that strives to equip young care leavers with the tools they need to transition to independence and find appropriate work.

Under this partnership, Allianz will be providing 100 youth between 14 – 19 years of age from 6 SOS Family Care and SOS Family Strengthening programs across the island, with access to globally recognized International Computer Driving License (ICDL) programme by February 2023. Allianz Lanka won the Allianz Social innovation Fund worth €10,000 offered by Allianz SE in 2019 and will be utilizing the same for this.

Allianz Explorer Camp – Football Edition

Football is one of the most popular sports in the world, with an estimated 265 million people, both men and women playing football worldwide. Allianz believes that the values of football – teamwork, passion, and discipline, to name just a few – are equally important on and off the pitch. We are committed to instilling these values in the next generation of football players and fans. To achieve this goal, we have hosted the Allianz Explorers Camp - Football Edition, which welcomes teenagers from all over the world to come to Munich for a week of training with FC Bayern youth coaches, every year since 2009. Since then, more than 600 teenagers from more than 30 countries have already participated in the multi-day camp in Munich.

Allianz Lanka has been part of this global initiative since 2015 and has sent over 8 participants to both the Asia camp and the Munich Camp over the years. Every year participants experience a diversified program on and off the football pitch. Some of the highlights included training with FCB coaches at the FCB training facilities, meet & greet with FC Bayern players as well as knowledge sharing sessions by inspiring personalities from across the globe who have created an impact in their respective field of work. In addition, these young men and women are also given a chance to make friends with other aspiring footballers from around the world. Love of football brings people together regardless of differences in nationality or language, and Allianz is proud to be able to build a global community of young fans united by passion for the sport.

Allianz World Run

Since its inception in 2015, Allianz World Run has supported SOS Children’s Villages on 32 projects in 28 different countries including Sri Lanka in 2018. The initiative seeks to inspire Allianz team members as well as their friends and family to undertake recreational physical activity and get them active by giving them the opportunity to tackle pressing global issues. This 90 day programme which has been organized annually for 5 consecutive years has had a significant impact in creating a better tomorrow for children who is in most need of our support across the world.

Allianz Lanka first took part in this well-intentioned cause in 2016, and over the years we were able to steadily increase our contribution towards this worthy cause. Allianz World Run 2020 saw 12,261 participants from over 50 countries around the world cover a total distance of 1,939,901 kms in a span of 90 days. 1,103 participants from Sri Lanka took part in the event and covered 121,564Kms, a distance equivalent to around 3 times the circumference of the Earth, helping our paradise island rise to the 3rd position on Allianz World Run 2020’s global leaderboard.
