Supporting the students of St. John Del Rey Tamil Vidyalam

Allianz Insurance Lanka
In the lush emerald-green Central Highlands of Sri Lanka lies the Bogawanthalawa Valley, considered to be one of the most beautiful tea growing areas in the country. Amidst all this beauty is the St. John Del Rey Tamil Vidyalam with 543 school children from Grade 1-11 studying hard to make their dreams a reality.
Located approximately 8Km from the Bogawanthalawa town, the school includes 27 teachers making every effort to ensure these students successfully complete the Grade 5 scholarship exam and Ordinary Level exam despite the lack of resources. Living in the Norwood estate and surrounding areas, these students are from families engaging in labour work. As a result, the school is unable to request parents for any additional support to uplift the facilities.
In line with our overall CSR strategy to support the students of Sri Lanka, we recently donated close to 300 academic books identified as essential for library usage by these teachers, library cupboards as well as helped paint the school environment. The official handover ceremony was held on 2nd March in the presence of Mangala Bandara (CMO), sales management of Hatton branch and Central Zone of both General and Life.
As a responsible corporate citizen committed to the fourth pillar of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of Quality Education, Allianz Lanka strives to enhance the educational experience of rural school children by providing them with essential library books and necessary infrastructure support. We aim to extend our assistance to more schools in the future, thereby contributing to the betterment of the community.
