Commenting on the initiative, Mangala Bandara, Chief Marketing Officer at Allianz Lanka said, “As the protectors of life’s most precious things, we are always on the lookout to uplift local communities, and what is more precious than the wellbeing of our future generations. Upon hearing of the difficulties faced by many children in Sri Lanka due to the economic crisis, particularly a lack of access to adequate nutrition, we decided to use the resources at our disposal to provide assistance where we can. These are beautiful children with dreams of becoming future leaders, but as with all of us, they need proper love, attention and protection to even have a chance at making these dreams a reality. Thus, we at Allianz Lanka are very happy to have been able to provide them with necessary assistance by donating essential food packs. I’m also very pleased to say that this was a collective effort and that the initiative was a huge success thanks to the support we received from fellow colleagues at Allianz Lanka, who put aside their own struggles and decided to volunteer.”
One of Sri Lanka’s premier insurance houses, Allianz Lanka, a member of the global Allianz SE Group, recently made a special donation of essential food packs to rural schoolchildren. The donation was made to the Karanagama Primary School in Dombagahawela, a rural village in the Monaragala District. The school serves 75 children from Grades 1 to 5, most of whom are from underprivileged backgrounds. The initiative was inspired after Allianz Lanka became aware of the difficulties schoolchildren there were facing amidst the present economic crisis, including a lack of adequate access to essential food items. The donation items were handed over to the schoolchildren in the presence of school representatives, amidst a modest ceremony.

This initiative was carried out under the umbrella of Allianz Lanka’s wider sustainability programme, and is just one of many one-off and ongoing social and environmental responsibility initiatives that the Company has undertaken.
